Google has come up with an anti-phishing security check to tackle the phishing scam which was recently doing the headlines.
Security has never been this sure before. Most of you must be aware of the Phishing scam that took place. Google had introduced an anti-phishing security check for the Android version of its app, earlier this year. The app works to warn and protect the users from opening suspicious links that they may come across. Some say that this step is manoeuvered just after the phishing scam which spread massively, making people think that the present link actually belongs to the Google Docs links inside Gmail. Now after quite a while, the makers have introduced the same procedure for the iOS version of its app too.
So from now on, if you fancy to click on any of the suspicious links or end up doing just that by mistake presented to you by a Gmail message through iPhone or iPad, then the app will get working into action instantly and warn you before the link opens. But if at all, you still want to access the link, the app will be persistent. It will smoothly direct you to a different page altogether and exercise the warning once again, re-establishing the fact that this link might deem to be dangerous. You should know that these warnings are shown to you again and again because of security concerns. The app is only and specifically designed to guard you against the phishing attacks and bar any malicious links entering your mail.
The company was seen commenting on a blog post very recently that “We recommend that you use caution before proceeding because the link is likely unsafe. Only proceed if you’re confident there’s no risk.” This new addition is very similar to Safe Browsing’s feature which was added to Gmail for the people who use Google Chrome on the desktop, last year. What Safe Browsing does is, that it warns the user if they receive any email with a malignant link which is known to be associated with any of the following. The inspiration was drawn from such apps.
- Unwanted software
This advancement in terms of security and barring the entry of malicious links has deemed to be a very intelligent step towards the evolution of privacy and trustworthiness of a website. Let us hope, there are no further threats putting in danger the safe keeping of our accounts and sections.
