Reader, how are you? Are you excited to read our latest news that we have brought to you? So, let us start without any further ado. Our research team while studying and analyzing came across this piece of news that Windows 10 users are going to be able to treat and use their PCs more like smart home hubs from now on. It was reported by Windows Central today that Microsoft has added a “connected home” section to Cortana. This new menu will enable users to sign into smart home services which give Cortana control. It is currently compatible with Insteon, Wink, Nest, SmartThings, and Hue. It was noted by Windows Central that connected home menu will be seen on both Windows 10 mobile and desktop. So, it is likely to roll out for the public out now.
Tom Warren who is on The Verge reported earlier this year that Microsoft was working on a brand new HomeHub feature which would create a family environment on the PC with a shared access to calendars and apps. The sole idea behind was to create and enable Windows 10 to serve as a smart home hub for connected device.
While the company toils away on those features, it is also working to prepare for the release of Harman Kardon’s Cortana-powered Invoke speaker that will be the first speaker to include the assistant. The exact date of sale is not yet known to us but an early Microsoft Store Listing went live yesterday which had the speakers ranged at the price of $199. It seems that Microsoft is getting pretty serious about competing with bigshot companies like Google, Apple, Amazon and even Samsung for control of the smart home.
